That is a porky of huge dimensions. The federal government might provide more funding to independent schools, but most funding comes from the states which provide exclusively to the public schools.
If funding was cut to independent schools, about 75% of the schools in lower SES areas would close leaving the states to spend many billions providing places for 100 000s of students, which even labor has recognized as a move of extreme idiocy.
