That was 1997, more than five years before George W Bush and Tony Blair invaded Iraq for reasons they knew were fabricated.

John I may not agree with your socialist philosophy but I love your honesty and integrity.

Pilger is brilliant at whitewashing the crimes of anyone who he can use to bash the West. Pilger's 'caring man' Dr. Rafil Dhafir was charged with 60 offences and convicted of 59 of them. One was defrauding Medicare. Five associates also pleaded guilty. He did all this under the guise of his 'Help the Needy' charity which he failed to register of get audited. There is little evidence his money ever reached the 'needy'.

The Oil for Food program was a developed as a response to claims the sanctions were hurting the people of Iraq. The BNP Paribas Bank was the sole fund manager and shadowy figures of the UN such as Maurice Strong, who incidentally was the originator of the Global Warming movement, wrote himself a million dollar cheque before he escaped to China to avoid scrutiny. A number of terrorist organisations and Socialist regimes who Mr Pilger would support were some of the major beneficiaries from the Oil for Food program.

I find it nauseating that people who speak out against injustice are constantly targeted by mean-spirited folk who would rather have their arms cut off than change any of their narrow, bigoted, often racist views.

I know that most humans are creatures of habit and are too lazy or mentally-challenged to adjust their thinking in this fast-moving, chaotic world.

I push the world peace idea and find I am constantly under attack and ridicule by those who obviously prefer war and destruction (as long as it doesn't affect them, of course!).

Pilger will be remembered long after his detractors have vanished under a slimy stone.

Not a crime, Atman...instead an enormous stitch up of a man who tried to ameliorate the sickening inhuman embargo devised by the US and Great Britain.

Grotesque.

Atman the crimes of the West,Hitler's Germany,China or The USSR were not perpetrated by ordinary folk. The Oligarchs who rule us have always been responsible for human suffering and with comments like yours, will continue to escape justice.

Arjay,
Shhh...don't mention real, successful Socialists like Hitler, Mugabe,Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin or Saddam for that matter, it upsets fake Socialists like John Pilger, also you must not point out the fact that Saint Che was a White psychopath who tortured and murdered anyone who didn't think and act like him or that Saint Mandela really was involved in a murderous terror organisation which killed twice as many Black South Africans as did the Nationalists...actually pointing out the fact that Socialist "equality" always equals a mountain of corpses makes fake Socialists uncomfortable and may hurt their feelings.

Socialism today is not about control, it is about equity for all, especially utility infrastructure essential for the wellbeing of the populace.
When these services are privatised, the less fortunate suffer financially, even though they where part owners of these facilities.
Capitalism is a norm in society, until it encroaches on the wellbeing of society
