Capitalism as we knew it is dead, and Obama understands that.

This is all pretty loopy stuff. What is needed in US,Europe and Australia is for Governments to rein in expenditure on welfare, stupid actions related to pumping up the cost of energy, bloated public service, over regulation of everything and so get their debt reduced and under control.

Whether Obama is best man for this given his first term is debatable. At least Romney had solid experience as Governor of Massachusetts. Probably doesn't matter which one. Europe is the real basket case, not helped by declining birth rates.

So 'community capitalism' goes like this: I have a clever idea, it works, I make money from it, then you take that money away and spend it subsidising NGOs based on dumb ideologies that don't work.

What could possibly go wrong?

David Palmer, it is even more unlikely that RMoney will tackle corporate and middle class welfare, social inequities or introduce policies that transform casino capitalism into genuine Smithian capitalism; an accountable mechanism of and within a genuine functioning economy
The red in tooth and claw scenario that underpins your market forces scenario is invalidated by the lack of a level playing field in the first place: the problem is plutarchy, not democracy.
You should not advocate austerity for others when you would prefer not to experience it yourself.
You should not advocate the continued punishment of the masses for the errors, vanity and various sins of the born to rule.

So some call for the old conservative "reduce regulation". I used to be one of those as well. The problem is this: A corporation has no morality, the only morality that a corporation has is that forced upon it by Government regulation". Where ever you have weak Government, the predatory capitalists will rape & pillage. Witness the destruction wrecked by oil companies in African countries, streams & creeks just destroyed and no effort to make good. I hate over regulation and "idiocracy" however to hitch your wagon to the market forces cart is to be sadly deluded, the levels of greed and disregard that the USA style capitalist displays assures us that with a Romney republican Government, the destruction of the middle class will continue at a greater pace than it is already under Obama and the continued subsidizing of the elites wealth by the workers via the current tax laws will continue. It is the 1% elite who are the ones that benefit from a form of welfare, yet they are the respected achievers while the family using food stamps to survive are called moochers.
How could any female or fair minded male vote for Romney /Ryan? It defies logic or reason!
