In Arafura (where 78.9% of the population are Indigenous according to the 2011 census) voter turn-out was 58.1% this time and 60.8% in 2008. In Barkly, where 67.8% are Indigenous, in 2012 turnout was 64.9% while in 2008 it was 65.1%. In Daly 43.6 are Indigenous: in 2012 voter turnout was 73.5% and in 2008 73.9%. In Nhulunbhuy (where 49.4% of voters are Indigenous) the turnout was higher this time: 62.7% compared to 59.8 in 2008. Whether this represents a greater Indigenous turnout is not clear. The only seat where Indigenous turnout was clearly higher is in the electorate of Stuart where 73.1% of the population is Indigenous and where turnout in 2012 was 62.9%, compared with 2008 where it was 52.8%. The majority Indigenous seats of Namatjira and Arnhem were uncontested in 2008 so no comparison is possible.
