NSW Right trying to lead Labor straight off a cliff : Comments

By Patrick Baume, published 16/7/2012

Many of the erstwhile working class feel no particular loyalty to the labour movement, and definitely not the Labor Party.

Much worse is still to come for the lefties.

What happens in a few years when many those current 'non-anglophone immigrants' do what many of our former 'non-anglophone immigrants' always do?

When they become wealthier and recognise the conservatives are probably the best party to represent them.

Then add in the fact that the liberal party has the most appropriate immigration policies that will encourage and support immigrants who will more likely become conservative voters.

For Labor he end is truely nigh!

Now that Labor is in an alliance with the greens, the coalition has the centre ground to itself.

Just another article containing factless, lazy stereotypes.

The DLP is hardly likely to be “more comfortable with a white Australia” than the Greens. The original DLP was the first of our parties to call for the end of the White Australia Policy, and this was well before the Greens were even invented, 50 years ago in fact. It also supported land rights for Aborigines before the Greens were even invented.

Tony Abbott is not an “authentic DLP-style politician” at all. The DLP senators would never have supported the Workplace Relations Act, much less Work Choices. Tony Abbott supported both.

I always vote below the line, so where the ALP puts its preferences does not affect my vote. However, I am pleased to see that the Victorian party used its preferences to help get Steve Fielding of Family First into the Senate in 2004 and Peter Kavanagh of the new DLP into the Legislative Council in 2006. This last was particularly useful because it prevented the Greens having the balance of power in their own right and the combined Labor vote was sufficient to defeat any Greens/Coalition motion.

I am pleased the NSW Right is catching up with what the Victorian party – left and right – did eight years ago, but it is all a bit funny as there has never been an automatic preference swap with the Greens, so no motion is required to stop it.

The Greens have this smug self-righteous sense of entitlement to Labor preferences. The Labor Party should do whatever preference deal it can with other democratic parties (whether the Greens, Family First, the DLP or others) to help it win government and help it have a manageable Upper House.

The Greens are entitled to seek to take votes from the Labor Party. The Labor Party does not have to co-operate in its own destruction.

Thank you so much Patric, for explaining why Ruddy & Julia have been so boat people friendly. They are desperate for a new source of fools to vote Labor, & boat people will do fine. There had to be some reason why she is sending the navy to fetch them from Indonesia, the moment they leave the wharf.

I do find it interesting that these inner city lefties, Green or Labor voters, who live in the most unnatural environment on earth, want the rest of us to live with nature, to make up for their sins. I wonder how they would get their lentils, if they succeeded in forcing their dream on the rest of us?

Fortunately these people are the most useless on earth, & come the crunch as seems probable, will be the ones we can dispense with, with no loss to any of us.
