Yet another pathetic Western (aka- white man) 'expert' on Asia + Korea, uhh... but merely spouting the line of Australia's political masters. This thus sadly tends to indicate that OnlineOpinion is essentially a xenophobic rant. But you might like to watch this North Korean view of things... My happiness ...home, sweet home! LOL [search 'Bogeumjari - Korea'] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9HxGhIo-6k

"Kim Jong-un ordered the April 2012 launch of a long-range ballistic missile that was yet another North Korean violation of UN Security Council Resolutions..." - Let me remind you that it was the UN which sanctioned the murderous invasion of KOREA in the 1950's + has no authority whatsoever in North Korea today. [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korea ]

BUT here is a new (South) Korean documentary which you should watch when an English-subbed version becomes available soon - "An Escalator In World Order" (aka 'America's Wind and Fire' in Korean) - This is an important DOCO movie soon to be released in Korea ...based on the 1950's US invasion + occupation of Korea + how it has subsequently affected Koreans in the South (+ migrants to the USA)...
"The faith towards a US-centered world order was like Christianity... The collision and irony between faith and the world, the unbridgeable gap... (The 12th Jeonju International Film Festival)" http://www.hancinema.net/upcoming-korean-documentary-an-escalator-in-world-order-44893.html

[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An_cayAnmpc - Some (temporary?) problems with audio ...but try this short clip... but its not in English anyway... http://tvpot.daum.net/clip/ClipView.do?clipid=31844206 ]

Now I've seen everything - OLOers defending North Korea. And I guess that is everything, because I can't think of anywhere less defensible.

It might be slightly more accurate, GraemeY, to say that you've seen the newest user to OLO on the day of joining posting two comments, both of which criticised 'OLO's xenophobic rants'.

For myself, I regard North Korea as the exemplar of what Arjay imagines his New World Order would be like.

Graham,
North Korea may be troppo but the USA Military Machine being involved in all these wars is far worse. They are trying to contain China and being very aggressive towards Russia,Syria and Iran.

Did you know that the Gulf of Tonkin incident that precipated the Vietnam War was a lie? No Vietnamise boats attacked US War ships.

Iraq was a lie.All these wars are about expanding the European/USA empire.China/Russia have stood up to them and now Hillary is huffing and puffing at the behest of her puppet masters.Attacking Syria or North Korea has nothing to do with stopping suffering. It is all about global dominance by Western Financial Oligarchs.

It ia about time we all started speaking the truth because the War mongerers will go all the way to WW3 if the lies continue. http://www.globalresearch.ca/

Thanks Douglas Chalmers. That Doco by North Korea was 95% correct about the West.North Korea must now look at the welfare of its own people and move towards democracy since the West does not have it either.

Its nice to tell the Koreans in the North what to do, #Arjay ....but we are not living there, uhh. It is a buffer state between the PRC (China) + the US-occupied South (that is, the USA) + thus there is still a war going on. When the US withdraws all of its troops from the Korean peninsula + from Japan + stops marauding the region's seas with its nuclear aircraft carrier attack groups, things can change for the better ....with or without stupid Western democracy.

"In 1945, the Soviet Union and the United States agreed on the surrender of Japanese forces in Korea and Soviet troops occupied north of the 38th parallel, while U.S. troops took surrender south of it.... This decision by allied armies soon became the basis for the division of Korea by the two superpowers, exacerbated by their inability to agree on the terms of Korean independence.... The two Cold War rivals then established governments sympathetic to their own ideologies, leading to Korea's current division into two political entities: North Korea and South Korea.... The ensuing conflict between the two was largely a proxy war..." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korea
