By Kevin Hawkins, published 9/7/2012

When you cross a state border it is likely that you will no longer be considered a student, at least when it comes to discounts.

If anyone is a subject of the Queen, to use a term that should be eliminated, then they have protection from discrimination under clause 117 of the Australian Constitution which states;

“A subject of the Queen, resident in any State, shall not be subject in any other state to any disability or discrimination which would not be equally applicable to him if he were a subject of the Queen resident in such other State.”

If you have been subject to discrimination write to the State Attorney General, and even the Federal Attorney General and your local state and federal members and annoy hell out of them. If it is a company complain to them and advise that you are contacting the AG.
This section of the constitution is consistently breached, particularly by Queensland in car registrations and refunds on state charges.
