I think this article has some merit.
Pushing for higher wages, salaries and conditions may keep some workers in clover, but puts, and keeps, many others on casual or part-time only, or out of work altogether. We need a better approach to maintaining relatively full employment, and Fair Work Australia simply does not cut the mustard in any respect whatever. The Libs certainly made a mistake avowing that Work Choices was near perfect, but it at least provided a workable system capable of promoting productivity, efficiency and employment opportunities. Moves are afoot in industry in Aus, with slight downturns in exports and domestic consumption (per the global downturn (recession) and high $A) causing many businesses to rethink strategy, with some closing (and putting many out of a job) and others increasing their outsourcing or going offshore. Our automotive industry, and all its ancillary suppliers, is in a load of hot water, and Qantas is heading for more job reductions. The writing is on the wall for all to see, but our current government does not seem to have the necessary answers. Posted by Saltpetre, Monday, 28 May 2012 10:23:03 PM

Pricing ourselves out of the world market through inflexible labour laws, record high minimum wages, and increase the cost of energy (via the carbon tax) is surely the best and fastest way to outsource all and any jobs overseas.

Certainly we need a new perspective from this government and (post 2013) future governments to ensure that sovereign risk doesn't continue to drive FDI off shore, see article below: -

So sniping from the safe folds of job for life the author thinks having a long view of Australia where workers are not commoditised a bad thing.
It's it funny that these right wingers say Australia shouldn't go it alone on Carbon tax (whatever that means) but that we should go it alone in outsourcing every industry except oh yes the public service. I'm sure we could get some cheap Indian resource to do a far better job than the author is doing for a fraction of the price. I'm sure if this actually happened a transformative effect on the author.
