Bradley Manning: traitor or hero? : Comments

By Marjorie Cohn, published 29/12/2011

In announcing the end of the Iraq War, President Obama ignored its horrors, so as not to further upset its still-powerful supporters. But his silence removed the context for Pvt. Bradley Manning's moral decision to expose these crimes of war.

Marjorie Cohn,

Every politician is a criminal.

It cannot be otherwise, as every politician lies to get elected and, once elected, uses our power to subdue us to its wish. I use ‘its’ as I believe that they have lost all parvence of humanity.

Marjorie, if we give our power (Vote) for free we are bound to get politicians controlling, not administrators serving.

If we give our power to politicians we can only expect cruelties and destruction.

It is axiomatic

I believe that pt Manning is due a dishonourable discharge and little else! It's hardly a crime to be young and idealistic; or, even just a little immature and stupid? That said, nobody but nobody should condone blatant war crimes; and those that allegedly committed or covered them; ought to be the ones brought to justice.
Nor should there be a lot of sympathy for those who simply took advantage of this young mans naivety, to simply expose stuff; embarrassing diplomatic gossip, we didn't really need to know; or, which put innocent lives at real risk; just for a fast buck; or, world wide notoriety, or both!
