There is no choice but to fight the economic extremism unleashed in Washington and London a generation ago.

Oh that _wicked_ economic extremism, which has brought more wealth to more people more quickly than any other development in history! How dare it deprive people of the poverty and misery which John Pilger needs so desperately to market his books and films!

Bad news John - despite the tasteful tan, the elegantly ruffled hair and the mellifluous tones, the people stopped listening to you years ago. Well, except for Jemima and the other members of the glittering Pilgerati.

How sad that the selfish minority, who have adopted their sod thy neighbour mantra, have entirely missed the point of John's essay.

How stunned will they be when they are beset by marauding peasants from all points of the globe.

We have just witnessed the Arab spring where the downtrodden demanded democratic rule - only to see democracy being suspended on the other side of the Mediterranean, in order to enable insane economic extremism to continue on its self-destructive path.

Enough of the rhetorical nonsense, it is time to bring it on.

Wake up and join the obvious dots! What John P says about Mexico is true and obvious. The increasing disparity between rich and poor as seen in all modern economies would, given time eventually reach Australia. But it won’t happen that way here. Why not?

The world economies share out natural resources (ie wealth) badly. Those total natural resources are limited. And what does a modern GROWTH economy need? A GROWTH in natural resources; like cheap and abundant oil. World oil supply appears to have hit a max and that means food and everything else is pretty much also maxed out.

All bets will be off as oil becomes scarce. The poor will complain and huge destabilising emigrations will begin because of hunger and disillusionment and the self satisfied Aussie will wonder who let him and his right to a barby down.

It will be exciting times ahead. We really ought to start doing something about it now.
