Ah yes, Animals Australia. The extremist vegetarian organisation that thought stopping the export of Australian cattle to Indonesia would somehow improve the welfare of cattle there.

The actions of Animals Australia have improved the conditions for cattle in Indonesia. Our government was never going to do anything, their government wasnt and MLA certainly never would despite being well aware of the problem. And Animals Australia acting alone could never have done it. It was the work they did in bringing it to the public's attention - as the ACCC is doing as referenced in this article regarding broiler chickens. Its not just me saying that the suspension has improved the conditions there, Cattle Council President Greg Brown said as much today: http://www.abc.net.au/rural/news/content/201109/s3323298.htm

the ACCC cant even tell us why petrol prices fluxtuate and vary so much, often daily and from suburb to suburb.
In other words, they are yet another wasted government agency, costing the tax payer millions and achieving little. Perhaps they see this as an easier target. Posted by rehctub, Friday, 23 September 2011 4:09:38 AM

I have no problem in the way broilers are housed. A 450 foot x 40 foot shed can house 40,000 day old chicks. In 6 weeks these chicks are size 10 or 1 kg weight, the chick to space ratio is 2.2 / sq foot providing all 40.000 chicks survive. they are then captured and sent for processing. At times like christmas the chickens are progressively captured ,as to give a range size to the byer. An eight week old chicken can weigh 2.0 kg

Hey Rechtub,
Fuel prices usually go up on long weekends in this State, greedy folk who are not happy with what they are already raking in (money wise). The Powers that be regarding price fixing are one of the biggest toothless tigers of all. NSB Posted by Noisy Scrub Bird, Sunday, 25 September 2011 2:19:06 PM

NSB, same thing happens here.
What pisses me off is that these fuel stations don't all get fuel delivered every day, so, the fuel they sell cost x, so why does the price of this fuel fluctuate from day to day, given it's the same fuel that still cost x. If any other business did that they would be hauled over the coals for it. Yes, they are toothless tigers. Posted by rehctub, Sunday, 25 September 2011 8:25:45 PM
