Rebranding Israel: will Netanyahu get away with it? : Comments

By Alan Hart, published 19/5/2011

The name of Netanyahu's game will be, as ever, to blame the Palestinians for the failure to get a peace process going and to present Israel as the only party seriously interested in peace.

One thing would be certain that Netanyahu would have a copy of Obama's speech already and vice versa. It is all a well staged and carefully rehearsed theatre production designed to enhance the positions of both in the eyes of their electorates.
Such is the relationship between birds of a feather, both evil in their own ways.

For entertainment though, it certainly should improve on the "The US can do anything" emotional waffle from Gillard at the time of her Zionist-arranged visit to Washington.

The meeting next week will be more of the same, a charade as they both use their scheming little minds to find a way around the Palestinian Resolution in September at the UN and some way of blaming the Palestinians for 63 years of murder and mayhem by Israel.

Debbie Menon stated today that “ one cannot make much rational sense out of all of this.
Everyone involved is either insane and has lost sight of reality, or is working through a greed or ambition-inspired fog or set of handcuffs, restraints, or other dictates of necessity, and no longer recognize or have access to reasonable thought processes. For instance, Obama who knows what is right, and what is wrong, and yet is hand and hog-tied by the political necessity of his ambition to be re-elected.
He and Netanyahu, as well as the leaders and powers in PA and Hamas, have all allowed their mouths and political ambitions to put their souls into cracks from which they cannot extricate them… making the entire situation irreconcilable with any rational conclusions for resolution.
It does not help much in an insane world, to be too sane.”

The real purpose of both speeches are to paint Israel as the only true seeker of peace. A totally unexceptable peace offer was orginally planned, but now not even that will be offered. Obama will read his carefully prepared speech, perhaps even written by the evil Netanyahu, full of tongue-in-cheek compassion. It is world theatre, but only a ‘C’ class movie at that.

As Shaksepeare wrote, “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”

I had to laugh at Alan Hart's assertion that Israel was becoming a "pariah state". The only people in the west who consider Israel a "pariah state" are the same sorts who thirty years ago were cheering on the advance of socialist totalitarianism.

Why these people have such a loathing for their own culture and people, and can always be relied upon to support terrorists and anyone else who opposses western values, is an interesting academic question.

My answer is, that the leaders of these movements are moral puritans who have a cumpulsive need to display their moral superiority. They appear to think that capitalist people are all uncultured, greedy war mongers, and the reason why the rest of the world is so poor is because the capitalists oppress them. Once this bizarre ideology is accepted, then the cause of all human conflict in the world has a simple answer.

Take Israel. Israel is a sucessful capitalist democracy and that is absolute anathema to people like Hart. The enemies of Israel are dysfunctional that are usually all very poor with ignorant populations given to religious extremism. To people like Hart, the reason why they are poor and dysfuctional can have nothing to do with their religious culture, because it is western culture which is the primary oppressor, and if people are poor then it must be the result of capitalist oppresssion.

To Hart, the Arab societies who have stated catagorically that they intend to destroy Israel are not the problem. It is the successful democracy who's population is under constant rocket attacks which is the problem because by definition, the Israelis are capitalist oppressors.

LEGO. Unfortunately people like Alan Hart and John Pilger have a very realistic view of Israel and its' relationship with the Middle East.

Israel is way out of line and has far too much influence in Western affairs.

lego,

I now think Israel a pariah state.

Thirty years ago I was a supporter of Israel.

I've come to see the current crop of Israeli zionist politicans behaving like the boers of south africa and the nazis of europe combined.

I've never been a socialist, democratic socialist or any other type of leftie twit.
I am and always have been a western liberal democrat.
