Bin Laden's demise was just as iconoclastic as his rise, at least for media.

Walter Brush,

Thanks for your outline of Communications means.

Is the rapidity and spread of news outside the control of deceiving media barons likely to take us closer to that ideal societal condition known as ‘democracy’?

Yes Walt, but what is the solution?

MSM does not do news and current affairs, they do opinion peddling. Long gone are the days of collection, dissemination, fact checking, news preparation and distribution.

We became disillusioned with commercial news outlets so we propagated public broadcasters; these quickly became cheer squads for “progressives”.

No win it seems, except perhaps a medium that gives us news as it happens, raw, unadulterated and spontaneous, that of social and personal networking. The MSM and public broadcasters don’t like it because they lose control and can’t influence it until after it is out, they try of course.

Interesting that Martin Luther produced his 93 theses and circulated them “beyond the control of the Church of Rome and Heads of State”. The reformation began. Perhaps we are seeing the media deal with a Reformation? I for one hope so.
