I have concluded after 67 years observing Govt. in action (?) that Govt. is incapable of doing anything properly or efficiently .
The other issue you failed to explore is the unbridled Greed of Doctors , their cavalier attitude and their pretentious Presidential attitude .

Both of these , Politicians and Doctors need to be re-Humanated then some advances can be achieved in Health Services .

I agree that the debate on health is largely pointless. I also agree that existing powers, whether they be bureaucratic or professional are too dominant. Applying more of the same thinking is unlikely to come up with any kind of ongoing solution.

Perhaps most scary was that this whole article focused on hospitals. Any real solution to our health issues (especially as we age and develop more chronic disease) will be through a revolution in primary care with GPs working in multidisciplinary practices and being paid to keep patients well (not for curing their illness) i.e. being rewarded for preventing illness. Only when the power of new forms of primary health care are introduced can we try and reduce the 32% of the health burden that is preventable by lifestyle interventions.
