Getup has started a petition on the levy. I quote:
"There's a simple solution to fund reconstruction after extreme weather events, while also reducing pollution and supporting renewable energy. The Government must establish a permanent Climate Disaster Fund, paid for by ending the billions of dollars they're handing out to subsidise the use of fossil fuels2, most of which ends up in the pockets of Australia's biggest polluters.

Grim, please detail those subsidies for us.

The last time someone made these claims it was a straight con effort.

Bruce,

Look why don't you drop your pro labor bias and state clearly and openly it is labor politicians who fear the polling numbers. Rather than an opposition that is sneering we have an opposition that is effectively holding the labor politicians to account for their election promises. Promises the opposition have always said are impossible to be met.

Secondly why don't you admit the Opposition and Tony Abbot have opposed the levy just like 80% of Australians.

Forget Oakshott and Windsor they are on their way out and are trying to be effective working within a Government they are too blind to see is totally ineffective. I reckon they are just too stubborn to accept that little fact. Oh and that they are an ineffective Government is what you show clearly with your criticism.

Why does anybody expect anything of these poll driven, poll panic fools?

By the way taxpayers always forkout for the reconstruction after natural disasters ... but this time they are being asked for extra to fund them... just so labor politicians can still attempt to look good.
