Flood mitigation: so much to do, especially in Queensland : Comments

Multi-pronged action is needed from government to protect us from floods.

Individual hit the nail on the head- for a flood mitigation damn, you want it kept empty. For a city's water supply, you want it full. While I see nothing wrong with dams, you have to be clear on what you want it for, and take a holistic approach to development. The problem with SE Qld is that it's not at all well planned, and those issues are coming home to roost in a big way. Due to untrammelled development, it will be very problematical to build another dam. The very development which has overburdened SE Qld leads to the need for more dams, while agricultural land has been built over and there's little left- and what's there is in prime dam country.
