Is this article meant to be funny?

The election was seriously boring and disgustingly trivial with 'rangas' and 'budgie smugglers' seeming to be the sole concern of our brilliant and highly ethical journalists.

It would have been nice to see the election - an important and serious event in a democracy - treated with seriousness and respect.

It would have been nice to have seen debate on policies - it would have been nice to see some decent policy.

In my many years, this election campaign was triviality at its worst. I hope never to see such another as this last election. But, I suppose, that is a wish to far with politicians either rolling themselves into small balls and pretending an election is not happening or strutting around spouting inanities, halftruths, exaggerations and expecting the electorate to accept this rubbish as gospel.

This election and the media reporting insulted the intelligence of Australians.
