Cleantech is the word of the moment. Everywhere you turn it is being used.

Loxton, what is your birthday, 6Th May 2010? I think that was the last shower.

You must have come down in that, to fall for all the bull we get from these rip off merchants.

You don't want to be a missionary with any of this new technology. It's never any good, until the third generation, & by then, most of this stuff will have been exposed, & abandoned for the rubbish it is.

We certainly attract the cynics here!
The civilised world is moving on whilst our backward green bashing old farts still believe green politics is Evil and free markets are Good.
Talk about ignorant: Making corporations pay the full life-cycle cost of products is just good economics.
Sure there is lots of Green BS out there but compared to our politics, economists/bankers and our "industry spokesmen"...the green BS is pretty minor league.
You guys seem to be able to accept marketing from war-mongers, Ponzi bankers and endless lost innovation but as soon as a bit of environmental responsibility is mentioned you go nuts.
BTW. Don't believe the hype about increasing energy costs soon. After privatisation the companies were restrained from increasing prices (They also restrained from investing much). Now the regulatory period is over they can start profiting and blaming the greenies for the increase. Does anyone find it surprising that the "blame the green power" lie will work?

True Ozandy, but these guys don't even believe in the free market, which was the point of my original post. By the way, odo I am not the author, I am simply pointing out the ignorance of people who post to this forum. I believe that Amicus has never heard of cleantech, but that doesn't mean he can pour scorn on it. His lack of knowledge is not going to affect the operation of the market. I do find it ironic though that he would use an environmental argument against compact flourescent light bulbs!

Hasbeen (what an apt nom de plume), just as an example, I referred to solar panels in my post. The photoelectric effect was discovered in 1876, the first solar cell was developed in 1953, it has been used in consumer applications since 1956, satellites also since the 1950s and by Telstra since 1978 in microwave repeaters to mention a few applications. Obviously, nearly 60 years of use is moving a bit quickly for you and it could be exposed and abandoned as rubbish as you contend, but I really don't think so.

Bottom line - the article and my comments are about what the market is doing and that is supplying environmental products and services to meet consumer demand. This is not an argument about whether or not AGW is right or wrong. The market has spoken and the protestations of backward green bashing old farts (to quote Ozandy) are essentially irrelevant.

I love the old fart bashing types, loxton, because you'll be one eventually and I'm sure will be as putrid to the young as you find your elders now. (attaining old age though, and being well to do, means I have a clue, you though have yet to prove that don't you?)

Being a "young" fart, of course you know everything and have never seen before all the insidious nasty types who will say and do anything to get the gullible young farts to part with their money.

Naturally no one would use "green" to separate the young fart from his hard earned, of course that implies you do anything hard doesn't it.

One born every minute, young fart that you are, and so stupid as to prop up something merely because it is fashionable.

What a wonderful sense of entitlement you have, thankfully some else did all the groundwork for you to be stupid didn't they - thank an old fart won't you!

Ah Amicus. You can throw, but you can't catch. Let's resort to a little name calling shall we. To the point, are you in favour of free markets or not?
