cornonacob asks
>>"Is there a part two where you tell us exactly how we could implement these lessons we should be learning from Germany?"<<
stevelmeyer points out:
>>All we need to do is move Australia to Europe so we too can offer convenient access to 500 million EU customers and enjoy the attendant economies of scale.<<
On the other hand, we do have China, relatively close. But we are unlikely to share a currency with them, or open our borders, so - off to Europe we must go.
individual adds:
>>By adopting the mentality of a people who think generations ahead & not of todays's bank balance<<
Well, that shouldn't be too difficult. Let's start with Macquarie Bank and the NSW Government, and work from there.
The article itself holds another clue.
"Some say Germany demonstrated during those negotiations that it was a paragon of its stereotypical virtues: thrift and hard work."
So, there we have it. A thousand years should be enough, give or take a century.
It might help the process along if we brewed a decent beer or two.
Come to think of it, their breweries go back around a thousand years...
