By Vincent O'Donnell, published 19/2/2010

The government's planned rebate of TV licence fees is a great way to line the pockets of foreign equity investors and Australian media moguls.

Of course there is another big question that no-one has asked and the Minister hasn’t offered. Did the networks ASK for this licence fee rebate? How did it come about? Whose idea was it?

Don’t you just love how a pack of brain dead bozos become philanthropic with someone else’s money; how Orwellian – That is a testimony to Modern times and how A society is destined for collapse ; Borrowed time is like borrowed Money- No value.

It wasn't the stations idea to go digital. It was set in concrete for them. I say the funds are more than appreciated.
Why does every thing have to have a political side to it. Or do you only have one eye.

Conroy's efforts at filtering the internet was bad enough but his massive licence fee reductions to commercial TV on highly dubious grounds strikes a new low.

Conroy's decision making is notable for being arrogant, secretive, lacking public consulation, non-tranparent, unconvincing and possibly corrupt. He has proven that he is a profoundly poor advocate and negotiator for championing what's in the public interest. He should be sacked.

Sadly, the coalition's track record in dealing with media moguls has been no better. The idea of ear-tagging a portion of licence fees for creative production work is exactly what's needed to replace the dreadful crud that Australians are served up with every day and night and provide full text sub-titles to programs for hearing impaired Australians.
