Dear SPQR,

You obviously find yourself unable to articulate
cohesive thoughts.
Best to keep your mouth shut.
Over use of insults makes may make you sound stupid.
It certainly doesn't make you sound clever. ;-)

Dear SteeleRedux,

I am glad that you were able to access Waleed Aly's
speech to the Senate. I found that it was spot on.

Our politicians have relied on the politics of fear for
more than a decade to cover their failures in many areas.
Our society seems to be being divided into a "them" and
"us" scenario. It would be great if instead of blaming
"them" for their behaviour - more attention was paid to the
factors that made "them" behave abnormally and try to corrent
thes factors.

People who are in denial about racism in this country
are simply ignorant. Lets look at the facts - we imprison
brown asylum seekers, we once celebrated our national day
with a white racist riot. There were assaults on Indian
students, a little political organisation called
One Nation, and of course "the intervention" - the heraldic
beak on our long hawkish treatment of Indigenous Australians.

All someone has to do is keep their eyes and ears open on a
daily basis. They don't have to venture far from their
front door in this country to encounter racist attitudes or
hear racist remarks and jokes.

@Foxy,

Sorry dear, but OLO is not your library --so you are not in position to tell anyone when they can talk, or what they can say.

Dear SPQR,

I'm not "telling" - merely professionally advising -
occupational habit.
However, as SteeleRedux pointed out -
"Whatever floats your boat."
You want to look stupid - your choice.

......."Dealing with prejudice is a way of life for many Australians.
Being harassed on public transport, not getting a job interview
because of your Middle-Eastern-sounding name, or missing out
on a rental property because of your skin colour..."

So Foxy, forgetting about the fact that we Aussies are so popular, how do you think this type of treatment differs form other countries? In fact, in many countries one can't even buy a house unless they are a national, let alone be supported by the tax payer.

Furthermore, there are few races thatbget discriminated against more than Muslims and I say this is because of the religion, more so than the people themselves.

The laws about the burka also cause tension, mainly due to their favorite treatment.

On that note, anyone who goes to a Muslim country and preaches Christianity risks being shot. How is that acceptable, because nobody here is in fear of their lives just from being a Muslim.
