Until reading this piece I had never heard of Peppa Pig. After watching three Peppa Pig videos, freely available on the ABC website, I am now ready to give my expert opinion on this weighty matter.

Piers Akerman UNDERSTATES the gravity of the Peppa Pig crisis.

Firstly, Peppa Pig is homophobic. In not one of the videos I watched was there a family with two mommies or two daddies.Shouldn't Peppa herself have two mommies instead of a boring mommy-daddy combo?

Better still, shouldn't Peppa's mommy be a single parent who conceived her with the aid of IVF and who combines perfect motherhood with a successful career as a Greens senator?

The choice of a pig as the main character points to extreme Islamophobia. As if that were not enough there is even a dog family. Both dogs and pigs are haram.

The anti-choice bias of the program is glaringly obvious. I did not see even one childless woman explaining the joys of abortion to Peppa.

The blatant RACISM of the program DISGUSTED and SICKENED me. By using animal characters to play human roles there is never a need to introduce "people of colour" into the program. All those pale faced toddlers lapping up the ABC's homophobic, anti-abortion, anti-single-mother, anti-green, racist propaganda are free to imagine a pale faced world.

And if you don't get the point show me one instance of a female pig on the program wearing a chador let along the full burqa!

The program is also unscientific. Imagine teaching impressionable kids you can squeeze four elephants into a little canoe. How can you expect kids to understand the physics of global warming if you fill their little minds with such unscientific guff?

ABC, pull this racist, homophobic, anti-gay, Islamophobic, anti-science program NOW!

Stop corrupting the minds of our children.

The more I think about Peppa Pig the more enraged I become.

Do we ever see pigs wearing tsitsit and yarmulke's putting on tephillin? We do not. Now what does that tell us about bias at the ABC?

The 'audit' is I believe a 'quantitative' one. It is pointless totting up the opposing numbers of politicians during the recent election, or the number of minutes allocated to 'sides'.

Gerard Henderson has reported that the 'audit' (his inverted commas, and appropriate) will be conducted by "Andrea Wills - a British journalist who has spent much of her career at the BBC, along with one year at the ABC". Doubtless she will do what is in her brief to the best of her ability. However as Henderson implies, that brief is not aimed at where any problems might be.

Quite apart from that, it is an excess to have two publicly-funded national broadcasters, ABC and SBS and one should take over the other. In any event the recycled BBC programs are available online, as are scores of wildlife programs, music, you name it.

Where government maintains it cannot afford aged care and to fund their aged care the elderly will have to sell their modest homes of a lifetime where they raised their families, and ambulances are ramped outside hospital doors, two national broadcasters are a luxury taxpayers obviously cannot afford.

Those are just some of the inconvenient facts that the 'Peppa Pig' Red Herring seeks to divert attention away from.
