As Frank Quinlan of the Mental Health Council of Australia argued in 2014, many amongst the mentally ill want to work – but cannot do so on account of discrimination.

And how many fit, healthy and capable people become mentally ill BECAUSE of the discrimination that pushes them out and keeps them out of the workforce - be that race, gender, sexuality, age etc? We don't live in an egalitarian society; we have don't have equality in employment opportunity, and; the selfish 'I'm alright jack, so you must having something wrong with you' brigade are making Australia a country to be ashamed of. The fair go has fair gone.
