By Mark Christensen, published 25/1/2013

Not only have we preferred fraternity to individual liberty, any conflict arising from the pursuit of our shared goals has been managed in a more casual, roundabout way.

Mark Christensen “our willingness to embrace the immutable ironies of existence”

Australia is absurd. We're upside down in more than a geographical sense.
Almost every standard of “civilisation” is inverted here.
Authoritarian, no.
Hierarchical, no.
Pretentious, no.
Extravagant, no.
Respectful, only when absolutely necessary.

Christmas in heatwaves.

Recent immigration levels and policies risk losing that atypical absurdness.
Most Asians and Middle Easterners are the exact opposite character.

The only way we could truly embrace “multiculturalism” is as another absurdity.
Yet, that's not what's preached.
We're supposed to respect, revere. Not likely.

Suseonline “Australia seems to have managed living with multiculturalism for centuries now”

You can live with anything in very small doses. Ask Rasputin.
We don't get small doses anymore.
