A pre-emptive strike by the US against Iran in purported self-defence would contravene international law and would set a dangerous precedent.

what 'law' would that be? to have law, you first must have power. nowadays, the un and icc are at the 'cat-belling' stage of law-making. this gives a comfortable living to any number of bureaucrats, while the usa does what it pleases.

it pleases to spread death and destruction through-out the middle east, in pursuit of domination over the use of oil. the resulting 'terrorism', btw, is the resistance of various moslems to the activities of the cia and the u.s. army. however unlovable their methods may be, they are re-acting to worse done first by the usa. so let's call them 'resistance groups', or even 'freedom fighters'.
