A UN which carried a big stick. Now that would change international relations.

"The remedy is veto reform and an accountable international force able to act promptly against aggression and mass atrocities."

Trying new medicines won't necessarily treat the underlying problems.
Where does this break down:

UN Charter Article 1.2.
"To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace"

http://www.un.org/en/about-us/un-charter/chapter-1

This all breaks down with unilateral U.S. sanctions and their control of the SWIFT payment system, and U.S. sponsored regime changes and military interventions many of which relate to U.S. support of Israel and maintaining the petrodollar.

Argentine President Javier Milei:

"The United Nations has become a useless organization whose entire function is to feed a caste of arrogant parasites masquerading as well-intentioned officials.

Those who claim to defend human rights have backed bloodthirsty dictatorships and regimes that stone women in the streets.

They systematically voted against Israel while staying silent in the face of Islamist terrorism and the murder of Christians in Africa."

I get that some have this utopian view that the UN can solve all problems if only all the problems with the UN could be solved. But in the end the UN is just a talkfest where the weak and small nations have a chance to puff themselves up. But the major powers aren't going to bow to the dictates of 30, 50 or even 100 small nations who have zero international power.

The notion that China or the US is going to alter their policies or not pursue what they consider to be their national interests because of a biased vote in the UN HQ is laughable.

But if you want to make the voting in the UN have more meaning, then don't allow the current system where some sh!thole backwater gets the same vote as the major powers. Weight the votes based on each nation's contribution to the UN or something like that and perhaps a more representative voting pattern would emerge.

We know that UNWRA was completely owned by Hamas. Who would want to give such an organisation even mild military power.

Just one data point to show how dysfunctional the UN is...

Between 2015 and 2025 they carried votes condemning Israel 173 times. Condemned the US 11 ties. Saudi, Qatar, China, Hamas, Cuba, Pakistan...zero.
