"Perth school boys endure 'totally inappropriate' corporal punishment at camp.

Boys aged 11 and 12 were forced to kneel outside on concrete in the middle of the night, holding their pillows with their arms outstretched and were yelled at if they dared to move after being rowdy at a school camp.

The corporal punishment was handed down to the Year 7 Como Secondary College students for being "persistently disruptive", according to a school teacher who their parents had entrusted with their childrens' care during a school camp.

The group of boys were among 143 students on their 'transition camp' at Point Peron on March 9 when some of them became disruptive in the middle of the night.

As punishment, a female science teacher made all the boys, as well as those trying to sleep, go outside and kneel on the concrete in a line while holding their pillow with their arms outstretched in front of them."

The poor boys will probably be scarred for life and need counselling for years.

I doubt that ten minutes of kneeling for
consistently causing disruption in the middle
of the night - would cause that much harm.

However, doing a more rigorous form of exercise
to tire them out - would have been a better option.
They might have slept better.

It's difficult to judge the teacher, not knowing
the full facts involved, especially since we don't
know whether she asked for advice from any of the
other staff there. Was this just her own decision,
or one on which they all agreed?

Is Mise,
I don't think so at all. If anything, it'll be something they'll brag about in later years !

Since when was that 'corporal punishment'? Have the pussies been spoilt for so long that they don't even know what corporal punishment is!

I am more than happy for kids of this generation to question this kind of crap.

To be punishing all and sundry, even those who were not involved, promotes a sense of not arcing up even when something is deemed terribly unjust. This kind of compliance is exactly what paedophile priests use to rely upon to ensure compliant victims. Some on this forum would know all about that as he has repeatedly defended them.

Absolute crap teaching practices harking back to abusing boarding schools which needs to stop.

I thought punishment these days was to give 3 hours of gw alarmist indoctrination. Just producing more and more snowflakes. Gives the Chinese another reason to treat us with contempt.
