Dear Hassie,

Thank You for your concern about my newspaper preferences.
I'll try to explain things to you.

I remember the days when we did have quality newspapers
that cared about their product - their editors were
concerned with breaking real news stories that were
accurate and true as could possibly be established.

As Tony Koch - writing recently in The Guardian,
reminds us :

The Australian used to be such a newspaper. A paper that used
to regularly set the news agenda for media throughout the
country.

No longer. No decent editor would put up with the biased
reporting that shamefully the paper now produces on a
daily basis.

It's not just anti Labor, it's anti-Green, or quite
ridiculously anti ABC, it's anti anything except a
story negative to the Liberal or National parties.

And it's not the only News Corp paper guilty of that.
Gone is the requirement for balance - how stupid and
childish is it of the management of these organisations
to fool themselves into believing that what they are
producing is being accepted by readers as a quality
product.

This is a particular pathetic attitude given the
difficulty print media has competing with the digital
age.

Why would an intelligent person want to alienate any
significant portion of the potential readership -
in this case - Labor supporters, Green supporters,
Indigenous people, women, ABC supporters, the list
goes on. Anybody but LNP people - and then only a
portion of them.

Do they really believe Rupert Murdoch directs their
action? It's ridiculous to suggest that he does. That
he rolls out of bed in the morning, grabs his lap top
and checks out the political angle taken by the
Courier Mail and the Australian.

More likely the current management feels the need to
second-guess what Murdoch wants and they think they are
providing that with their unbalanced rubbish.

These newspapers are avoiding their prime responsibility
to be a fearless watchdog on government and society and
to work to ensure that wrongs are exposed and fairness is
evoked for all.

Raycom my thanks, refreshing seeing a conservative thrashing about like a fish on the river bank
Too that poster who shall not be named for the ludicrous view IF ONLY is the reason voters are to turf this mob out
IF only, if only the Liberals had not become two party,s, at war with each other
If only Rupert never arrived in Canberra the very week Turnbull got knife
If only Labor did not run on policy and got down in the dirt as some conservatives have

On most issues, you could add the Greens and GetUp! as well.
Raycom,
If a Dollar is involved you can be assured an Australian is nearby !

Did pre-polls yesterday for The Greens in my marginal Liberal electorate. Nothing was more striking than the divide I noticed between the older well off voters, judging by the cars they pulled up in, and younger voters. The oldies would often go straight for the Liberal htv, most of the younger voters were favouring Labor.

Like many, I voted yesterday, ttbn will be most disappointed, with his demands that the electoral officer ask "WHY YOU VOTING?" Too bad me old cock, there was no question, just name and address. That has been the way of pre-polls for several years now, get used to it lad.

Dear Hasbeen,

Geez you lot are perennial whingers aren't you.

Now you are trying to say the other media are left of centre too. So when you sit down to your daily fare Today Tonight and a Current Affair do you really think 'Damn this is left wing media at its finest'? You would have to be right of Hitler to even contemplate such rubbish.

Let's look at the facts compared to your made up idiocy my friend. This was the breakdown of last Fridays viewing ratings for news and current affairs of the respective stations.

1 SEVEN NEWS Channel 7 928,000
2 NINE NEWS Channel 9 833,000
3 SEVEN NEWS / TODAY TONIGHT Channel 7 829,000
4 NINE NEWS 6:30 Channel 9 778,000
5 A CURRENT AFFAIR Channel 9 573,000
6 SEVEN’S AFL: FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL Channel 7 572,000
7 BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS Channel 7 570,000
8 THE CHASE AUSTRALIA Channel 7 562,000
9 ABC NEWS-EV ABC 542,000
10 HOT SEAT Channel 9 492,000
11 THE LIVING ROOM Channel 10 422,000
12 10 NEWS FIRST Channel 10 406,000

When you add up the viewing power of 7 and 9 the ABC is left in the dark. It has only 10% of the total viewership.

You lot are cry babies, claiming victimhood even when the odds are so stacked in your favour, then you go and call those with the temerity to point these things out as liars. Really pathetic.

Now any chance of you coming back with alternative facts and figures to attempt to shore up your case or are you as usual going to bang off a couple of insults topped off with idiotic rhetoric once again?

How about you surprise me.

Steele, don't forget Ronald Reagan was a communists...according to John Hinckley Jr., its all a matter of perspective. I recall watching an interview some years back, with an American extreme right wing white supremacists. The guy was claiming Hitler was some kind of bleeding heart liberal when it came to the Jews, he didn't go far enough according to him, to many got away. The scary thing was, this guy wasn't joking about Hitler, he actually believed it, and was being serious. rrrrrrrrrrrr.
