Wikileaks.

Should we show sympathy for squealers of state secrets, (often beneficial to the public), who squirm in prison cells when caught.

On more sensible times, these people would pay the ultimate price for treason. Now they have 'rights'.

//Now they have 'rights'.//

Americans have had the right to not be subjected to cruel and unusual punishment since 1791, when the 8th Amendment was enacted. Last time I checked, they hadn't repealed it.

Schultes complains of prison conditions common to all criminals.

The point could be argued, on remand in prison is bail refused. He has the presumption of innocence.
What he complains of though, is his loss of priveledges; access to his evidence for defence of the charges etc. incl., loss of phone privileges.

However;
*...Prosecutors wrote that the government learned earlier this month that Schulte has been using one or more smuggled cellphones to communicate clandestinely with individuals outside the federal lockup.

An FBI search found multiple contraband cellphones including at least one with significant encryption, about 13 email and social media accounts and other electronic devices, prosecutors said...*

The investigation revealed that he had sent classified information to third parties, including through an encrypted email account, they said.

Prosecutors said Schulte was placed in more restrictive detention conditions on Oct. 1 during the latest probe.

They are not traitors if what they tell us about is truth.
No human ever should be tortured by any one.
IF true it shames that country every bit as much as its actions in the prison in Cuba did

cruel punishment should be allowed if it prevents innocent people from dying or being hurt.
