Anti Semitic racism is not an answer.

The practice of circumcision originated in many cultures, probably from the health benefits.

Oh come on SM, the comment was hardly anti semitic. That is what
was told to me by people who lived just over the border from
Germany at the time and who did not rush out to circumcise their
own kids. If it is correct, then it was hardly a silly thing to
do by Jewish doctors at the time. You forget that in war time
Europe, Islam was extremely uncommon.

I came across this interesting item while researching
on the web:

"American soldiers serving in World War II were
subjected to regular inspections of their genitals.
If uncircumcised, the soldiers risked being ordered
to undergo immediate circumcision..."

Nothing to do with religion it seems.
