Yet another solemn promise to the Australian people is quietly being shelved.

The Complete lack of effort or negotiation with East Timor is proof that Juliar never intended to honour her promise to install an off shore processing centre.

In the mean whilst, Juliar continues to provide for the biggest collection of detention centres in the world.

SM, watch this space.

I have had mail that there is about to be a 'no confidence vote' by a key independent.

Of cause if this happens, it's back to the polls and I recon it will be a 'slaughter house', goodbye and good rid dens to the greens.

And labor of cause, because they to have some control of the government.

Here's hoping!

Stop the Press!

Politician abandons election promise!

If only this were a newsworthy event.

Unfortunately we have to endure, as a country, the consistent and blatant abandonment by governments of "never, ever" commitments, whether or not they were "core", or "non-core" promises.

(Now who was it who gave us those phrases, both of which have passed into our daily vocabulary, I wonder?)

The only possible way out is to insist that a politician - any politician - who makes a promise during an election campaign is prevented from voting against that promise during the life of the parliament. If the government as a whole reneges on such a promise, e.g. one that is present in their manifesto, they will be required to take it to the people. In a fresh General Election, if necessary.

It's not a hard task to implement such constraints. Just keep a record in the same way as a record is kept of the politicians' financial interests. Oh, wait...

…I think the Politics in the new age has become akin to Marriage; impossible to maintain integrity under the pressure of constant change.

…We are not unique in the world to be flooded with escapees from the grinding Middle East wars, kick started or perpetuated by Americans in the region: (Turmoil exacerbated with new political unrest sweeping the entire Middle East).

…The Italians, like Australia, are facing the same wave of illegal migrations passing through Tunisia, foreign workers displaced by the unrest, attempting to find work elsewhere in the EU. Italians have developed a unique method of vetting illegals fleeing Tunisia by boat to Italy’s equivalent of Christmas Island, Lampedusa Island, in the Mediterranean; If considered to be searching for jobs, Illegals are returned to Tunisia.

…Maybe that is a category to be included into our processing procedures in Australia with some vigour. This is one for Abbott to solve soon. My bet is, he will be no more successful than Labor or the Italians. Get ready for the lies
