Binge Drinking and Gambling - A Royal Show Produce

Hello Out There

I recently went to a Royal Show in a Capital City, due to gaining some employment. I did not finish until around 9pm, by this time it was well and truely dark and the families with younger children had left. I walked the Showgrounds, in particular Side Show Alley and the Rides. I observed the old coin machines, where you put more gold coins in to disbalance other coins to win a bounty. All the rides were still functioning with loud music and bright light. There were also teenagers almost performing free pornography demonstrations on the picnic tables to the side.
This whole scenario had this thought cross my mind,
Does the Royal Show give under eighteens a taste testers of an adults night life?
The coin machines, follow similiar concepts to any gambling machine you would find in a casino.
The rides have bright lights and loud dance music, almost similiar to being at a nightclub.
The Side Show Alley, at $5+ for one game can be taken into two contexes.
One- Gambling
Two- Children learning to part with their money for a short thrill..like an alcoholic drink for example.
Both of these contexes, as stated, are a short thrill.
Children learn these addictive behaviours early on and transfer them in a similiar yet more adult environment...such as a casino or nightclub. And so Binge Drinking and Obsessive Gambling is Born.
Happy childhood memories for everyone.

I have not seen you around genxoutsider so welcome.
I think however it is stretching it a bit blaming any Royal show for drinking and gambling.
Fact is both can be learned at home or school and by kids who never went to such shows.
I was punting my pocket money by age 5 and drinking at 16 went to my first show at about 17.
Now kids start even earlier.
And in relation to your second thread?
Yes Medea has an impact on us all but it always has.
You can read abut it on the walls of ancient city's from hundreds of years ago.

Belly makes sense.

The Royal Show cannot be blamed for enticing teens to gambling or other pursuits, there have always been sideshow stalls at shows where you take a risk in the hope of winning something. Remember those pickup crane-like machines that barely grab the toy you've latched onto.

The biggest risk to teens in terms of gambling is the proliferation of pokies, materialism, the influence of consumerism (keeping up with the Jones's) and the attraction of a quick dollar.

Guess what Pelican... I found a new one.

Gaming sites (okay I never went near them before so new to me). To advance your character further you "could" pay money and get a roulette wheel type thing.

Parents playing and kids getting pocket money to play. Gambling for any age.

Go for a nosey http://www.evony.com/

83 servers to date I think. Hey I'm on server 33, nup I have not paid but you can and oh so tempting.
