By Sadanand Dhume, published 3/12/2008

Global economic integration depends largely on how India and the world deal with Pakistan and its radical Islam.

Time us former Western colonial killers offered to share much of the blame for Mumbai.

Indeed, reckon we're flamin' fortunate that after WW2 and Gandhi's magnificient venture, that with India later choosing Western democracy, the lower-caste Indians haven't joined low-caste Pakistanis with the same murderous pay-back feelings.

Surely it's about time we offered to admit much of the colonialistic blame for global terrorism, otherwise our careless attitude to letting tiny nuclear-armed countries like Israel pretty well dangerously steer the way for another World War, is probably even more dangerous than terrorism for the future

BushBred...

sorry old son.. I think all that philosphy has turned you mad :)

Its not OUR fault... no no no...it is the fault of the human heart.. in ALLLLL human groups.

You speak as though these people were vestal virgins who we suddenly came along and despoiled.. total rubbish mate.

We did what they did, and those before them did and what those among them are doing now...... exploited weaker people.

The idea that it was only our mob doing that is ludicrous.

Please get off this silly hobby horse that it's all OUR fault.

FYI the Legacy of Ghandi is.. PAKISTAN! and the associated terrorism and Nuclear potential.. the various Islam/Hindu wars, the holocaust by Pakistan against Bengladesh and the current problem.....THAT is Ghandi's legacy.

Polycarp, as social historians we understand history even much better than any devout modern Christian, whose curates have a problem of leaving too much of genuine history out.

An example is that for Western historians, St Thomas Aquinas is more important as a philosopher than as a Christian leader.

Thus there is nothing about Vestal Virgins for us, Polycarp but dinkum Western history as it stands, and indeed the hidden fact that it was travelling Muslim scholars still influenced from earlier Greek science which made Aquinas accept that Christianity needed Hellenistic reasoning to lift Christianity out of the Dark Ages.

a course in true western history might do you the world of good mate

cheers BB WA
