In August alone, the campaigns of John McCain and Barack Obama spent about US$3 million a day.

I agree with some of what you say in relation to the election donation part

However the bailout is to create the ability for financial institution to lend money to business and to help lower the interest rate to those businesses

The failure to do this will distroy confidence and create even more unemployment

It is really a damn if you do and damn if you don't scenario

The collapse of wall street will hurt the millionaires, but will hurt the people who works for the millionaires and who works with the millionaires (suppliers) much more

This political farce has absolutely nothing to do with Democracy. It is a textbook example of Plutocracy at its worst.
