We need a Governor-General with a high profile and a more productive relationship with the people.

No Brian, nothing convincing there.
Seventy or so percent of the population want a republic.
The argument and the reason for the failure of the referendum to pass was that those who wanted a directly elected head of state voted no.
That issue still needs resolution and will not be easy.
But as time goes by, and especially when Charles becomes King, I'd expect the pro-republican feelings to become so strong that we will get constructive movement on the question of how the head is appointed

Hi to all the forgotten australians ,

lets hope that the new governer general will take a step forward and stop this goverment of australia to stop the cover up of the rapes and abuses that occurred in the states run institutions here in new south wales and other states of australia ,

governer general jeffries when he was in office did not care about us victims , that were abuse by those who were to take care of us not abuse us ,

i know this as i sent many emails and letters to the former governer jeffries and he did not reply one response back to me ,

so please governer bryce please stand up for us victims the forgotten australians , and stop the courts and the states from continuing to cover up these crimes against us victims of whome were young children in state care , we are human beings, that still live with these atrosious crimes we suffered as children ,

we will no longer be forgotten

The politicians and the Republicans and the Royalists ALL know what the most Australians want, which is :

1. for any Australian able to nominate themselves for the job, with a very simple, easy use filter;

2. for all Australian voters to vote to select who they want;

All this requires is a simple Act of Parliament.

OR, a Bill using section 128 passed by a single House.

Problem is our politicians, Republicans and Royalists, do NOT want the same... for they reject the separation of powers.

Politicians, Republicans and Royalists, want continue destruction of our separation of powers, in favor of their domination of powers, in order to rule over rest of Australia.

Our elected Governor-General/President, would still select Ministers from those elected to Parliament, so maintaining accountability and separation of powers of our constitution.
