By Scott Ludlam, published 12/8/2008

Spurred on by campaigners, the international community has banned chemical and biological weapons. Nuclear weapons must be next.

Wise comments from Plerdsus and Stevenlmeyer. People often demand that we boost the population to increase density for defence reasons, but densely populated countries and even big, densely populated countries were invaded in WWII. No country with nuclear weapons has ever been invaded. ArthurN began well, but needs to consider how the horrible status before nuclear weapons, which he describes graphically, can be avoided.

Evidently our pertinacious Green Senator from WA has a lot to learn - of World History, Life, and his unweavering trust in people to solve the Nuclear Debate.

His naivete is encouraging because by the next election, his Party would have joined the irrelevance of the Democrats and FFP.

Dyed-in-the-wool Greenie Warrior's are no better than Independents. Opportunistic,, egocentric and a waste of taxpayers time and money. On a basic salary of $127,000, plus generous perks/travel allowances, our enigmatic Senator is guaranteed a cushy job 2014.One can only guess who funded his first class sojourn to Hiroshima.

Gareth Evans for all his hubris-bluster, achieved BA while acting out his role as Foreign Minister. He is best remembered for his extracurricular dalliance in/out of Parliament with the then Leader of the Democrat's Cheryl-cando-everything-Kernot. On retirement he opted for plum nomination in the United Nations Secretariat/Security Council. Lacking the numbers and International acclaim, he acquiesced as a Country Squire, fulfilling his life long expatriate ambitions and love life. Germain Greer born-again.

The NNTP and Nuke Weapons Convention are clueless and clout less. For decades, they filibustered, campaigned and publicly protested their opposition to Wars, rearmament, nucler stockpiling..their agenda mimics Green Peace activist. Ironically, Scott's ' hibakusha ' would have to forsake sushi whale fillets from their menu. Notwithstanding, the chagrin exacerbating from the Cattle Grazier's lobby, and effervescent ' midnight oil ' busker-come-polly ' Peter (the skull) Garrett ?

Citing Rudd's diplomatic gaffe and highly politicalised visit to Hiroshima, it defies credulity that Aust servicemen are still dying in Iraq and Afghanistan despite pre-election promises to bring the troops home ? Expediency.

Never camera shy, he was photographed paying homage to the Yasukuni Jinja Yushuka War Shrine in Tokyo. It didn't matter that many surviving ex POW'S, civilians and confort women who suffered indescribable cruelties at the hands of the Bushido, never ever received an apology. Books chronicling atrocities committed against civilians in Korea, Manchuria, China, the Philipines, New Guinea, Thailand and elsewhere are burned and banned. The Shinto shrine is revered by all Japanese. Ashes of 22 War convicted criminals, hitherto interred in nondescript graves are now

enshrined for glorification and edification. Every servicemen's remains, including the butchers of Nanking, Bataan, Burma/Thai Railway, Sandakan etc are venerated as holy spirits of the Gods.

Whatever is said about the new generation of Japanese, and their abhorrence of War is a classical myth.

Enkindled in their psyche is their belief they are God's chosen; their Land protected by the Devine Wind or kamikaze winds which destroyed Kublai Khan's Mongol invasion fleet in 1274 and 1281, and their unvincibility.

In 1944, the Japs relied on more than Devine Wind intervention, they invented suicide kaiten submersibles, and aircraft. Women, children and old men were trained to use sharpened bamboo stakes to defend their homeland to the bitter end. Teens were trained as suicide pilots on one way jouney's to the greater glory of Senjinkun's Bushido code.

My Pater, a former POW lamented when people referred to the Japs as beast, would wirily comment: " A beast is an animal, and animals kill to eat. The Japs killed for sheer fum."

The Allies had no illusions to the millions of deaths, destruction and aftermath. That ' fat boy ' hastened WWII's outcome cannot be underestimated.

Nuclear Weapons of mass destruction is a deterrent. History records ' appeasement ' dosen't work. Anyone who shares ideological, left-wing views of pacification and dialog is living in ' dreamtime'.

The threat the next A bomb targeted Hirohito's Devine Palace is speculation. Not surprising, the Military hierachy attempted to hold him hostage in the Palace bunker to prevent him publicly announcing on radio, for the Nation to cease hostilities.

There should be no recriminations and apologies for the victims. The Sumari Military ensured that suffering a humilitating defeat, future generations would rebuild from the ruins. A dynamic Super Power.

A force to be reckonged with - which it is today.
