The West's mixed record in Iran : Comments

By Tom Clifford, published 11/12/2007

Just as the drums of war were beating into a steady 'Shock and Awe' rhythm, out comes a hazy smoke signal.

Will there ever be a time when ordinary people will see this "Great Game" for what it is. The stategic imperative of US Primacy and influence may or may not be a good thing. I find it hard to justify when so much tyranny is perpetuated by the "Freedom and Democracy" loving West. Just because it doesn't happen "here" doesn't mean it's acceptable. It may serve in the short and even medium term but in the long run, actions that promote structural and cultural violence are implicit in perpetuating distrust and violent conflict world wide.

There has to be different ways for international relations to work than the continual mexican standoff of hegemonic Real Politik. There are ways of course, much academic literature has been written about them for years. My fear is that it takes only a few "Hawkish" thinkers of any stripe or creed to totally undermine such efforts and propel leaders back to thinking and practising that might is right and the rest can go and get stuffed. When I look at the big picture I find the hypocrisy simply unfathomable.

Are we all really that scared of what co-operation might bring or is there a certain amount nobbling of these processes holding us back??

the west doesn't have a mixed record in iran. it's simply evil, no redeeming features.

this is consistent with the rest of it's performance in the middle east. a continuing program of murder, retail and wholesale, has in recent years finally generated effective resistance. the americans call it terrorism, being unaware that "as ye sow, so shall ye reap" applies to them also.

The following proves that America's record in the Middle East needs a dumb public that must not ask too many questions, as well as a managed media?

Apparently it is true that Israel began its nuclear programme without America's consent, but why the US let the illegal project go on, sounds unbelievable.

According to the article in our 'West Australian' newspaper dated Friday, November 30, 2007, certain documents were found on only the previous Wednesday in the US, which contain evidence that Israel was already in the process of going militarily nuclear without US permission.

The documents also reveal how the US could have stopped Israel in its deadly programme, but the administration
lacked leverage because it could not take steps that would have been politically disastrous at home, cancelling a sale of fighter jets to Israel.

According to the report, even Henry Kissinger was against allowing Israel to go nuclear, because as he mentioned, it would forever reorder the strategic power balance in the Middle East.

It is so interesting that in Curtin Uni' during the Cold War an American lecturer warned us about the above - how allowing a tiny nation like Israel to go militarily nuclear, would create a lifetime of problems in the Middle East.

Also because it was Israel's above actions which caused Saddam of Iraq to try the same, with Israel knocking out the Iraqi installation under US guidance, what Kissinger predicted has been all too true, possibly even the American-made mess we now see in Iraq - adding on Cheney's present eagerness for a US payback on Iran.

I was in Iran a few months ago. Its an interesting place, full of contradictions and conspiracy theories as it has always been. There's a strong air of non-compliance in the air - everyone pushing the limits of everything. Fuel riots the day after I left. I cant say the place is on the brink of revolution but people are tired, change would be welcomed. But not the American kind!

Yes, Redabyss, it was a couple of years ago that an Iranian female judge remarked that she would certainly like Iran to be more democratic, but not fashioned in the American Way.

There was a time not long after the Islamic takeover that Persia, now Iran was praised even by the barbarian West for its acceptance of Aristotelian Reasoning, which incidently finally helped the Germanics to get out of the Christian Dark Age they were in.

The author of this article has only provided half of the true story when he made this statement " In 1953, when the CIA and MI6 dispatched the democratic government of Mohammad Mossadeq "
The British and Americans, with the consent of the Russian Government, also had every member of the Qajar dynasty assassinated so that any link to Persia's constitutional monarchy were removed from the face of the earth. They did eventually murder both Soltan Fereydoun Mirza Shar Qajar and the mother of the new born King of Persia, His Majesty Soltan Qeumars Shah Qajar who was eventually secretly dispatched to Australia, by the British Embassy in Sofia Bulgaria, where he is now a prisoner in Nth Qld with his Jewish born wife with no chance of ever leaving and with further attempts being made on his life and all very conveniently concealed from the public by both ruling state and federal regimes in Qld & Australia. They are now at their Persian Embassy on the Cook Highway at Palm Cove, Cairns.

Congrat's, Young Dan, certainly we need so much more truth from people like you about what a mob of dirty Western cheats we have supported so far in the Middle East without much questioning?

One only hopes that eventually the electronic OlO's will fly the banner of True Enlightenment, as Immannuel Kant tried his best with his plan of THE TRUTH WILL OUT....
