By Stuart Rees, published 19/7/2017

Following signs from the Zionist lobby, most Federal and State politicians dare not mention BDS, let alone express their support.

Yes this is very much a part of the situation described in an essay titled International Campaign Is Criminalizing Criticism of Israel As 'Antisemitism' featured on this site:

Everyone speaks of the common good and the rights of all.....Ostralians have always been known to support the cause...whatever the cause was that meant one was being denied dignity and the opportunity 'to have a go'
Today, that sentiment, that person, that society, doesn't exist.
It's long gone.....
Today we have self serving politicians voted in by an apathetic phlegmatic society that preoccupies themselves with facebook, Snap Chat, twitter, and the Kardashians to mention a few.
Most of this society hasn't got a clue what BDS is or what it's current purpose is
The only conflict that is focused on is their idols in the football team of choice.
Journalists presenting all conflicts as entertainment and the masses lap it up.
Everyone rallys when a cat is up a tree but if a child is killed wellll that's a demanding matter, whereas the cat is an amusing distraction for five, ten minutes, the abused child warrants thought, and besides everyone is too busy with their iphone.

Dear Stuart,

I don't agree with this concept of international law.
I don't agree that the plight of Palestinians is caused by Israel - speaking of cruelties, the Palestinians are more cruel to each other.
I am aware that Palestinians are suffering, but ordinary Palestinians suffer LESS under Israeli occupation than they would under the unfettered rule of their own dictators.

Nevertheless, for the good of Israel (but against the true interests of ordinary Palestinians), as well as for the benefit of Jews around the world who would have liked to see Israel as their home, but cannot due to its morally-crippling occupation, I wish you good luck with your BDS campaign - Israel needs it in order to sober up and cure itself from the ill effects of holding onto those cursed territories which it occupies since 1967. Israel should thank you.
