Should Australia invest funds and resources in developing Generation IV nuclear reactors? : Comments

Australia is presently considering signing up to the International Framework for Generation IV Nuclear Energy Systems (GIF), which will commit this nation to take part in developing new nuclear reactors.

This is all pipe dream we do not have any nation building Pollys anymore, only poll driven incompetents.

However we have to give a close look at the real pros and cons of nuclear research and endeavors.

The answer is no.

There is a ton of money spent in the US, China, Russia, France and Japan developing new reactors. Aus without a single large reactor or skilled nuclear engineers is far better suited buying the technology from others.

Do we have a choice ?
It is now slowly sinking in that wind & solar cannot do the job.
The politicians have still not woken up to the simple fact that no
matter how much wind & solar you have, you still need the backup
generation that can do the whole job.

In other words you have to build two equal capacity systems at perhaps
the same cost each.

It may perhaps be much cheaper to ditch the existing solar & wind
and just build nuclear.
