By Ahmed Samatar, published 7/3/2017

As American contradictions get sharper in the coming four years, what is needed is a rich Islamic selfhood.

Well, truth is, America is a brutal place.always was always will be one would expect.
It's actually a land with little mercy. But it parades the lie of peace and prosperity for all.
It never was like that!
It's a land of greed, a land of take it if you can; the home base of capitalism. Expect no mercy for the underdog.

It's why the Italians and the Irish survived and flourished in the good old USofA. They could fight, they could suffer; it was normal and written in their DNA.
Muslims are actually behind the eight ball on this point. Although the are likewise tough and are survivors, they are not cultured for the painful ride it will be to integrate into a society that is different on most levels. They do and they will struggle.

The way forward is en mass. Fight out from the corner! And they will do that.
But for the rest of us looking on, we will also be caught up in their war of integration.
Hang on, it'll be a wild ride...

Well the headline says it all, doesn't it?

The Muslims want to defeat the duly elected president of the country that has permitted them to enter.

Sounds like a damn good reason to make sure no more enter.

Quote: "The vast majority of Muslim Americans .... is proud of their Islamic faith".

Proud of the hate, violence and slander in the Quran?
Proud of the evil deeds of their prophet, a man that attacked his neighbors for 10 years, committing all kinds of atrocities?
Proud the the sorry state of human rights in Islamic countries?
Proud of the discrimination and violence Muslims inflict on other religions and even other Muslims?

What we see here, again, is a Muslim that blames everything on others - Not one word about possible problems with Muslims or their beliefs.

As to a "reasoning Islam, at ease with others (heterogeneity), and that puts the law of the land above Sharia, we must have missed this, since these conditions are contrary to Islamic ideology and are absent in Muslim societies.

Finally, since when can Muslims enter into an "open, vigorous and respectful dialogue"? In Islamic societies, they use blasphemy laws to suppress all contrary opinions; in the West they scream "Islamophobia" at any criticisms. Muslim do not want dialogue, they want unmerited acceptance. Thy should anyone respect a people that does not respect others?

As I have said here for 15 years, Muslims cannot live in peace, in numbers, as equals, with non-Muslims. Bad times are coming. I blame the hate that saturates Islam and the (self) deceit and ignorance of Muslims.

Mr. Samatar is an expert on Somalia (also a fail;ed political candidate in a failed state). Now his own words from a NYT article
http://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2013/09/30/does-al-shabab-pose-a-threat-on-american-soil/the-jihadist-component-is-a-threat

Quote: Somalia is a fallen country. Poverty is so widespread that many people in Mogadishu, the capital, live in camps for the internally displaced. Nearly three quarters of Somalis under age 30 are unemployed, while over half a million Somalis are warehoused in the world’s largest refugee camp in northern Kenya. Personal physical safety is precarious for most, Somaliland being an exception. The national state continues to be acutely feeble and the political class so corrupt that Somalia is at the very bottom of the 174 countries rated by Transparency International. Not surprisingly the decay of Somali poetic and artistic culture is pervasive.

While each category contributes to Al Shabab’s violent activities, it is the internationalist group, so singularly hateful and seeking apocalyptic redemption, that is most likely to extend its reach into the United States. Members could do so by either pushing harder to recruit young Somali-Americans to join them in the Horn of Africa or, more ambitiously and daringly, wreak havoc inside the United States. (unquote)

Never once does this author, in any of his writings, seek to understand the primary source of the disorder and violence that ravages his country. Why are Al Shabab and/or ISIS hateful? It might be the Quran and hadith, which they constantly cite in their communications..... (Think about that, because Mr. Samatar will not consider it!)

But he wants the West (Mr. Trump in this case) to shut his eyes and sing Kumbayah and let Muslims and radical Somalis come as they want, without restrictions, to share their failed social norms and hateful ideology, bringing with them the mentality that has made a mess of his country.
