Sharpening defences against the blade of terrorism : Comments

By Muhammad Faizal Bin Abdul Rahman, published 12/10/2016

Daesh's calls for more lone wolf attacks – including with the use of knife tactics – buttress the larger strategy of utilising returning foreign fighters.

So far, the 'lone wolves' responding to the call have proved, in Australia at least, where it most matters to us, to be poor silly fools with the brains of a rabbit rather than a wolf.

Knife attacks? Metal detectors and extreme prejudice responses!

Misleading the public/the Authorities?

Space age lie detection, bugs, and electronic surveillance covertly deployed in high security jails and at places the potential terrorist needs to use almost daily! [If only that had been available and in use before 9/11!]

And where detected? Automatic repatriation if available or incarceration for the term of a natural life?

Preferably in some offshore installation?

Devils Island has long since been abandoned but remains an Island prison few have ever escaped from!

"Knife attacks? Metal detectors and extreme prejudice responses!"

I'll go along with the response but metal detectors are no good against plastic knives.

abc news post - Counter-terrorism police arrest two men in Sydney
Updated 39 minutes ago

Counter-terrorism police have arrested two men over an incident in Sydney's south-west.

Sources have told the ABC one of the men was wielding a bayonet, when he was apprehended in Bankstown.

The ABC understands the man was questioned two years ago by New South Wales Police and the Australian Federal Police over an incident at his school.

It is understood that incident involved him refusing to stand for the national anthem at the morning assembly of his school — East Hills Boys High School.

He then allegedly made comments about Australia's involvement in the Afghan war. (End quote)

So what happened to that de-radicalisation programme for him over the last two years? Obviously a "fail".

So another youth running around with a bayonet - and they call us Aussies Islamaphobes!

Islamaphobes don't run around with bayonets, guns, knives or looking for ways to blow up innocent citizens - in the name of any religion.

Time for Government - on all sides - to call out these acts for what they are - sinister acts of terrorism, as such they should be put in jail with a minimum sentence of 30 years.

This article is timely - published the same day (12 Oct 2016) two knife carrying 16 year olds were arrested in Sydney.

See http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-10-13/terrorism-related-charges-laid-16-year-olds-sydney-bankstown/7928190 :

"...Two 16-year-old boys facing terrorism-related charges after their arrest in Sydney yesterday have been refused bail, with NSW Police saying they were about to commit an Islamic State inspired attack.

The teenagers were arrested by the NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team at Bankstown in Sydney yesterday, in the lane behind a Muslim prayer hall.

They were found in possession of two large bayonet-style knives, bought earlier that day, and religious notes that allegedly pledged allegiance to Islamic State..."

Yes, flying planes into buildings doesn't work as well as lone wolf attacks on chocolate shops.

The above linked article by Sofia Patel (ASPI)is basically lifted from a 2015 article published in The Guardian June 2015 by Anne Manne , whose metier mostly consists of books on motherhood and the care of children, which of course goes hand-in-hand with counter terrorism :)

As an Aussie - we all wish to live in peace.

Since 1950's we have seen many cultures, creeds and religions assimilate with Aussie culture.

As such all immigrants have welcomed Aussie culture and continue to live in peace. We all have friends of differing cultures, creeds and religion and faiths.

My Muslim friends continually tell me - any act of terrorism is not of their faith.

So, my question must be - what part of their religion/credo states that it permits any act of terrorism be committed on any innocent Westener as a credo to their tenants of faith?

I note also we currently have two 16 year olds allegedly charged for acts of terrorism. Those living in this area and follow local newspapers do ask a pertinent question "what level of advise from legal authorities assistance did you seek for your child when you knew his thoughts being as to committing an act of terror on an innocent citizen of Australia, like not seen before"?

Obviously none - and shame on you as a parent of a young child who you could have sought so much assistance and received help from Australian departments - all free of charge.

I note also I haven't heard anything from any Mufti or Imran stating "this allegation of terror act has nothing to do with our teachings"?

Time for Government representatives - on all sides - to call out acts of terrorism for what it is. Time also for relative Court Judges to get serious with time of sentencing.

Australia currently has a level of "probable" for terrorist activity .... so does that mean we all "wait" for an attack before level updated to "serious".

Man Monis - Lindt Café siege - has left a tragic legacy in all of our minds and hearts forever. If one googles relative history for this guy, he shouldn't have been awarded any status in Australia, we were warned, those warnings not heeded by relative authorities.

Shameful

Its unbelievable that foreign fighters who fought with Isis are not denied re-entry
to Australia.

Is it that we are ham strung by our law system that requires witnesses to
these people actualy fighting with Isis.

Where the hell can those witnesses be found, certainly not amongst their Isis
comrades.

I think in a time of combat where there is enough suspicion that someone has
been fighting with Isis that should be enough for them to be deported by the government without going through the law courts.

Anyone who deliberately refuses to stand for the Australian Anthem
barring the old and the sick should be treated with suspicion and stripped of their
Australian citizenship, except for the Aboriginals who are Australians by right of
ancestory

When they act as traitors, when they are stripped of their citizen ship, where they go
to find shelter is their problem.

Surely their islamic religious friends in Islamuc countries will reward them
for their loyalty.

Whereas they have proved their disloyalty to Australia and have forfeited their
right tp protection by Australian citizens.

Is Mise,
Give them the option of returning to ISIS or to any other
country of their parents origin, or Natural Life imprisonment.

As we are at war, even if not officially, we could intern them for
the duration as a POW. As the war has been going for 1400 years that
internment could be for a lllooonnnggg time.

If there is a legal problem, then declare war on ISIS.

If we have "second generation" citizens as terrorists - they should receive the "ultimate" sentence - LIFE. Whatever age....no excuses.

You may ask WHY so harsh a comment - reason being that it was their goal at the time ..... to take out an innocent victim or victims in the name of WHO!

Let's call it out for what it is - these persons are "budding terrorists" wish to cause havoc on any westerner, any time, any where.

We then ask a further question - we are a host country to many immigrants, regardless of race, religion and culture for decades. So by bringing up your children with such "hatred" for Australian culture - why did you come here in the first place.

Oh I get it, maybe it being the home gifted to you - via dept of housing - all benefits afforded to you to assimilate with new country etc all afforded to you via our government....and paid by taxpayers, means nothing.

We, as taxpayers, are totally OVER IT. If you and your family (or others) wish to cause any harm on any innocent Australian citizen - in the name of any "alleged" religion - LEAVE!

Current Government has allocated so much money to agencies in de-radicalisation of youth - I ask WHY?

Government agencies report they currently have over 400 citizens on "watch" list - I ask WHY?

Australians are continually advised the religion of "Islam" is a religion of peace, Aussies don't buy it.
