If you can add 200,000 people every day to the global population and account for a significant loss of farmland at the same time, you can begin to understand the dire food situation facing the planet.

This article was very good, but marred by ridiculous comments about food fights. According to the FAO real food prices are about back to where they were in the 1990s, after spiking a few years back. As the article also notes, potash prices are falling and mines are closing. Difficult to drum a world crisis out of that, expect for the potash producers of course..

Well perhaps the planet should provide some family planning for hundreds of millions of third world women who want it and can't afford it, despite the protests of the Catholic Church.
