This concern for the injustices and abuses meted out to the Palestinian women, men and children draws on well-established international consensus.

Israel was set up because, we were told, Jews needed a homeland.
However there were and are already many homelands for Jews, in which Jews are citizens with full legal status in equality with everyone else. Australia is one of them.

It's the equality bit that sticks in the Zionists' and Israel's craw. Equality isn't good enough for people claiming to be "God's chosen". The Zionists' Israel project, plonked inside Palestine and expanding every day, is one in which Jews don't have to put up with equality. Zionist outreach into other countries is dedicated to demanding that we all stay ready to advocate for and fund Israel's ambitions. We've seen that in action on OLO threads.

The thing that gets me is that there's this idea that a Jewish life is worth more than any other life.
That I must value an Israeli life over a Palestinian life, otherwise I must be a supporter of terrorism.
It's the idea that Israel and Jews deserve special treatment over and above others, and that if I don't support that I must be anti-semitic or a promoter of hateful ideals.
That if I have a neutral stance in relation to Palestine / Israel that I must too be racist and antisemitic.

That's what I object to.
I'm never going to say that I believe one person's life is worth more on face value than anyone else's.

Anti-Semitic? Whatever...

Personally, AC, I would value the life of even Sarah Hanson Young over that of Ivan Milat.
