Pyne, Trump and Turnbull walk into a bar... : Comments

By Mark Christensen, published 7/4/2016

Western democracies are under pressure from polarising elements, with the centre struggling to hold up in the face of ideological forces unwilling to compromise.

According to comment from LEGO:

'Central to this is to destroy the white European identity through the importation of every other race and ethnicity you can find. That this has been catastrophic in terms of social stability, economic prosperity, and law and order, is something the socialists will deny forever.'

What is a 'white European identity' let alone a 'white Australian', and what makes protagonists sure that other 'white' people (should) agree with them? Sounds more like elite, top 1%, autocracy, eugenics and some perverse form of lifeboat ethics.....

In the Republican context such ideas are their biggest threat (ditto Tories UK, LNP/Labor Oz, much of the EU), ageing demographics making policy demands, including 'identity' through opposition to immigration and 'population growth', in short term... However they are electoral suicide in the long term if those citizens not part of 'white European identity' are demonised and/or marginalised.

According to the Cafe con Leche Republicans, this is exactly what is destroying the GOP, flirting with and being nobbled by white nativists' ideals and strong need to aggressively impact policy they disagree with:

'Tanton founded in excess of 30 organizations, most of which are clearly intended to reduce all forms of immigration, and maintain a clear European-American majority.'

While educated elites make policy and support the likes of Trump, media focuses upon 'white, uneducated and working class' who are the target of dog whistling. However, this has a use by date and cultural specificity is not sustainable, if you wish to govern in a diverse and comfortable society. Even those who agree with conspiracy theories that Obama is not a US citizen cannot explain how he will be able to remain a citizen after his presidency ends, which he will..... wacko stuff, says a lot about the level of politics and media in not ust the USA, but Oz, UK etc......
