By Guy Hallowes, published 23/6/2015

June 20th was the International Red Cross 'World Refugee Day'. Not that we have anything at all to celebrate.

How long have you had this compulsion to be a moral puritan and wag your finger at everybody else, Guy Hallowes? People with brains once laughed at moral puritans, but with the growth of tertiary education, too many humanities graduates think that they are God's gift to the human race and intellectually and morally superior to everybody else.

The idea that graduates are smarter than the Great Unwashed and morally superior to the business class induces in many humanities graduates the idea that they are the ones who are going to solve all of the world's problems. Their delusion of intellectual infallibility is a poor basis for making rational judgements, and it goes without saying that most of the proposals put by the lefty elite are simply socialist methods which have already failed.

You began by saying that there are millions of refugees and the cause is the wars in the Middle East. In that you are completely wrong. The reason why there are so many refugees is because the world's population is increasing exponentially and 100 million people are added to the world's population every year. And most of that growth is in third world and Muslim countries where they can least afford to have a growing population.

If you think that the western world can solve this problem by simply allowing anybody who wants to come into our societies to simply come, then you must not only be not real bright, you must be mad.

Q. Why did the farmer call his pet parrot "Onan"?

A. Because he spilled his seed on the ground.

Any country that accepts (or lets in) Muslim immigrants (or refugees) is asking for trouble. They come and they bring the values of Mohammed ("I am made victorious with terror") and Allah ("I will cast terror into their hearts") with them -- and we foolishly say "that is fine" and "your culture is as good as ours, maybe even better".

Yes, there are good, peaceful Muslims, but even these have no problem with the hate and violence against non-Muslims (you know, those "lower than animals")in the Quran or the evil deeds of their dear prophet (murder, looting, torture, rape and slavery are not really wrong, it only depends on who is doing it to whom).

Like it or not, most refugees come from societies steeped in failure and violence, and many bring the mores and mentality of their upbringing with them to their new homes. A nice 10-minute speech to them about the democratic ideals and values of Western societies will not change anything. An article on the beauty of multiculturalism will not impress mutilated girls, beaten women or hate-filled youth.

I can sympathize with the plight of many refugees and even welcome them, but, in my opinion, Muslims (the "best of peoples", according to the Quran") cannot live in peace with non-Muslims. Sooner or later they will start with unending demands, outrages, and of course, violence, all topped by the usual denials and excuses. We are doomed.

And yes, the refugee issue is big business and benefits many people, but not the average citizen.

As defined in the UNHCR charter on refugees:

People wanting to move country for a better life style are not refugees but illegal economic migrants.

The other night I watched a Four Corners story on the plight of Rohingans (sp) living in Burma/Myanmar. Indeed they are living a sad existence and the Buddhist citizens interviewed had zero sympathy.

In all honesty I felt very sad. Yet at the same time I was not moved in the least, to start allowing these people to settle in Australia.

Finding sanctuary for Muslim refugees should be a priority of the wealthy Muslim countries. You would think that Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Kuwait, the UAE, and Brunei would recognise the potential to import cheap labour and at the same time be doing a humanitarian deed for their religious brothers and sisters. What's stopping them?
