There's much in what you say John!

All we need do is change the Employers and their know it all young Turk/unattainable achievable expectations/and culture? [Good luck with that!]

And down to the fact too many want to start at the top, and therefore have no real world experience to moderate unrealistic expectations?

That said, those with mental health problems brought on by their workload and not living in the moment; but in some as yet unattainable future?

Could do worse than learn to meditate and live in the moment to lessen the self imposed anxiety, which can then lead to all sorts of imagined negative can't do it outcomes; and consequent self imposed depression!?

And preferably get into easily learned meditation, and reinforcing creative visualization, plus the art of the possible and therefore achievable, before they become unwell!?

Which in turn could lesson the load a little on overworked practitioners, giving them more critical time to deal with real psychoses; for which the meds seem to be constantly improving?

Excellent article.
Even for those in full-time work the cost of pyschological care is prhobitive. The medicare schedule fee is $99.75. The cost of a session is usually $165.00 plus. The rebate you are given from medicare for the 10 sessions is $84.80. The recovery time from mental illness is generally a lot longer than from physical illness. It would help if there was not a quota of 10 on the number of medicare visits - this is a fraction of the average number of visits required in a 12 month period - particularly since they have lifted the threshold on the taxation rebate a couple of years ago which means there is no longer any financial relief for payment of more than 10 sessions.
