Only Blind Freddy and possibly Cheech and Chong, believe the ABS unemployment methodology bears any resemblance to reality.

What can we say Malcolm, except when you're absolutely right, you're absolutely right!
Perhaps one of the, plain as the nose on your face, solutions are far fewer Licences; and therefore less competition/compulsion to oversell/overcharge, just to make an HONEST living.
Best results all round, seem to occur, when volume replaces margins!

It is about once a year that some genius discovers that all the statisticians in the world have got it wrong.

For a reality check, the ABS does not assume that everyone that is employed is entirely happy. What they want is measurable and objective statistics that are consistent and compatible with those used elsewhere.The stats collected are of how many people are employed, and how many are looking for work. No feelings, considerations etc.

Other things that could be measured is people in full employment that would prefer part time work, or people employed in lower jobs than their qualifications would dictate, etc, etc.
