AUSTRALIANS are spending more than $1075 a year on health expenses and in the US $1455.

We Australians are edging that much closer to having an American Corporate Health care system, that has little to do with health and more about profit.

It is strange this fearmongering about Obama care, when considering that at any moment a health insurance fund can refuse to fund treatment for a fund member.

The holy gospel of economics talks about market forces, competition and costs etc, yet that has failed in the US to keep health care costs down.

My (admittedly cursory) review of Roberts CJ's decision was simply that he accepted that Congress had the power to levy 'vice' taxes and failure to take out insurance amounted to a vice that could be taxed.
Most of the Western World is very familiar with vice taxes - tobacco, alochol, gambling etc.
It might be a bit unusual to class non-insurance as a tax but once you get to that place, the rest is easy.
