Is there enough gold to go around? : Comments

...Nobody would deny the urgent need to assist the disabled, so I like most others agree with the outcome of a Government scheme (NDIS) designed to achieve this. Where this scheme will unravel, as it immediately has, (with the states loud and unanimous wails of unfair, at Gillards insistence of state cooperation), is “who pays”?

...I would be disturbed, if concerns in an opinion piece in the National Times on August 28th written by Andrew Baker, are accurate.
Baker predicts the NDIS will be funded eventually by a “medicare”-type levy. If this prediction comes true, that news will fall like a lead balloon on taxpayers generally. But adding to his concerns is the imminence of the “little-brother” NIIS; a federal scheme funded through insurance premiums, surcharges, levies and increased municipal rates.

...Add this to the overburden of CTP insurance on motor vehicle registration, and it is becoming more and more obvious, Gillard will reap the accolades while the workers take another whacking through increased taxes. Can the workers of Australia afford this one?
