By Daniel Meyerowitz-Katz, published 17/2/2012

Being ideological rather than pragmatic is more than half the problem for Israel's Palestinians.

"one under god" is on the right track, but not quite there yet:

It might be because the Americans didn't land on the moon.

Or maybe because Tupac and Biggie are out there smoking blunts with Elvis.

Or maybe he was inspired by Barak Obama's secret jihadi preaching.

But then, it could always that he was abducted in a crop circle and subjected to an anal probe. That would make anyone angry.

Hmmm... the mystery of it all...

And it is that hubristic attitude, roughly translating as "Americans need to fight and die to neutralize Iran so Israelis don't have to" I find infuriating in the extreme on the part of Israeli leadership.

stuff..a zionist told you

In light of the fact that Chinese and Russian officials have gone public in stating that if Iran is attacked by either/or the US and Israel,..they will come to Iran's aid militarily, we are looking at the potential for a full-bore, global nuclear war.

A war of that magnitude will not be viewed from the comfort of a living room, watching as remote places far away get bombed to smithereens, but in cities and neighborhoods where we live, work, and worship.

I would really like to hope that those in the bowels of power in DC and Tel Aviv opt for a far more reasonable approach, rather than indulge in another military misadventure to neutralize yet another of Israel's alleged existential threats in the region.

anyhow
im over talking about it

Ho hum!

Another completely one-eyed article demonstrating complete incomprehension of the other side's perspective.

For defenders of Israel it is always the Palestinians who are 'ideological' and the Israelis who are 'pragmatic'.

But hang on, isn't Zionism an ideology?

Palestinians feel crowded out of their own homeland. That is not blind irrationality, but entirely understandable.

The way out is a pragmatic deal. Both sides argue they are willing to cut a fair deal, but first the other side should give up everything they hold dear and we should make a few tiny concessions that are easy to make.

And so round and round it goes....

Man I love when my argument is proven for me.

Meanwhile @Michael T, this article actually admits that there is inequality in East Jerusalem and that the Arabs are disadvantaged, and then calls for them to be more integrated into Israeli society. That's actually quite refreshing.

Most articles on the topic say either:

a) Jerusalem is one united city and everyone living there is happy and blissful and there are no problems with the Arabs except for the terrorists.
b) Jerusalem is an apartheid city under an apartheid regime and the Palestinians there are brutally oppressed by the Zionists who are busy stealing their land and being all apartheidy.

I don't think so, NQD. The thrust of the argument is that they only have themselves to blame......
